Must've been a big house! I see 7 adults and 4 teenagers and 6 children. Can you imagine cooking doing laundry for that crew?
It's worth noting that an even older man named George Swingler (1750-1760) lived a few line items away, and Ethelridge Clemons was on the next page, age 40-50. Also Betsy Clemons, age 40-50 a few lines below Ethelridge.
Moving right along, in 1840, Job seems to have disappeared from Wilson County. We have a John Swindle the right age to be one of the young men in Job's house ten years earlier. John's wife doesn't seem to match anybody from the previous household, and there are now 4 children under the age of ten in his household.
AND...
also in Wilson County in 1840, we have Joseph Swindle, who is 1811-1820, with a wife (Mandy) and three little girls under ten.
AND...
Josiah, who is 1791-1800, with a wife? the same age, an older woman (Maggie 1771-1780) a teenage boy (Ringo 1821-1829), a teen girl also 1821-1829 (Janis), a girl age 10-14 (Dolly 1826-1830), and two boys under ten. I'm hereby naming these people so I can keep them straight. Ha.
AND...
Pellage Swindle, who is 1791-1800, same as Josiah. Aaaaargh. Pelledge has a wife (Mandy) 1801-1810, a girl (Ursula) 1821-1825, a boy (Frank)1826-1830, another boy (Fred) 1826-1830, a boy 1831-1835, another boy 1831-1835, and one boy under the age of five.
Bear with me, there is a method to all this madness.....
